ls2 and 6 speed swap questions

I eliminated the computer and alot of the factory harness that was plugged into the computer. i used the factory harness as far as oil pressure gauge, temp gauge, amp gauge and tach. I bought the gm controller for the engine. It has a hook up for the tach on it. the factory tach wire just hooks to the controller. also used the factory wiring for the alternator. It charges fine and didn't have to put a resistor in line. my 88 has the volt meter and idiot light both, which eliminates the need for a resistor. i did keep the original senders from the 305. you will need some adapters to go from metric to american thread, the temp sender we turned down and rethreaded metric. that worked good also. there is alot of time involved, but it is worth it when your done.

For my swap, the CCC quadrajet carb, harness, and ecm are separate from the gauges.. i removed all of the OG carb stuff and like GBODYLS3 said above was take the the factory guage wiring and used a metric thread adapter for the coolant, oil pressure fitting that accepts the stock sending unit bought off ebay, going to get my t56 trans tailshaft housing modded for the stock speedo, the tach is my only issue for now but i'm sure i'll figure it out. just going to redo my stock ls harness to run the engine once i either delete the VATS or come up with vats module. On other thing to address is your rear diff as well.... I talked to guy here locally who has done the swap and his first recommendation was to upgrade/replace the diff.. I'm sure you can get it done and baby it.. oh and if you get to the trans clutch pedal before me pics please!! I'm gonna try to start that soon after i figure out my fuel system "just ordered a racetronix fuel pump" 8)

Sounds like a stand alone harness would be better to use then trying to run with the stock one. The body will be off the car and once i get the frame back from powdercoat ill order the complete umi suspension and get the motor/ trans set it with the body off, that might make for an easier install. The pedal assembly will be another pain as ill probably have to custom mount everything but it will be worth it. Will probably sell my pure stock car and the 455/th400 to get a little more funds for everything, never hurts. As for the rear no worries i have an 8.5 with 3:73's and posi so it should hold
