and I want to use my engine and trans in my 1986 Regal, what will I need for the swap? My regal already has an Olds 307 and TH350

Is it possible to use the rear end in my regal? What would be the advantages of that? I don't think my regal has positive traction and not sure of the specifics of my trucks rear end. If it's not worth it then I'll scratch that idea and THE REAR END IS UP FOR SALE.

ANYTHING ELSE ANYBODY MIGHT WANT/NEED FROM MY TRUCK, LET ME KNOW!

Your truck is likely a 5.7 Vortec - not an LT1. Can't tell from the pics if it is 2wd or 4X4. It is a viable swap as long as it is 2wd. If it is 4X4 you will want to source another transmission. The rearend won't work.

I thought an LT1 was a 5.7L Vortec :?:

I know it is a 5.7L tho, and yes it's 4WD. I've been told that I can use the trans if I get the transfer case taken off and another tail shaft put on it.

no lt1's came in early 4th gen. camaros and impala ss. they are TBI engines with reverse cooling heads. the engine you have is a very strong engine though. i would keep it.

LT1s are not TBI. The had sequential fuel injection (1 injector per cylinder)

Your Vortec can easily and inexpensively converted for non-computer status with an appropriate intake, carb and distributor. That makes it an very attractive option. As for the transmission -- you would be money ahead to sell it with the transfer case and buy a standard 200 4R or 700 R4 and add a lock-up kit. The 4L60E that you have will not run without some sort of computer control, whether it be GM or aftermarket (TCI, etc). That will be either complicated or expensive.

Vortec without computer, fuel injection, or electronic ignition.... I'd lose interest in the engine then.

The whole appeal of having the Vortec is the newer technology, and throttle response and control of having the computer regulate things.
I'm not good w/ tuning a carb. Never have been. Nor have I ever learned how to set timing. I don't wanna be bothered with it changing, having to get it set again, etc.

If I can't keep my computer, fuel injection, electronic ignition and electric trans.... I don't want it.

well if you wanna keep everything you are going to need a lot of patience and a thorough understanding of wiring schematics. It can be done just very time consuming and careful work. If you don't want to meticulously remove the factory harness to use in your other car you can call the detail zone in Delaware and he can make up a simplified harness that is plug and play all you would have to do is hook everything up and get the new motor in the car.
