LT1 swap update - split loom install

It cleaned up pretty nice. I opened it and it looks dry with no signs of moisture ever getting in. Has the original OEM Mitsubishi sensor.

Three of the four cap screws were seized enough they snapped off rather than backing out. I need to figure out how to get the remaining portions out of the distributor body.

Good info on stocking good opti sensors at this thread over at Corvette Forum

The cap screws protrude out the back side and tend to rust causing the screws to seize upon removal. I have had good luck grinding the rusted tips off before removing the screws
Since yours snapped off, see if you can screw them out the back side with a needle nose vice grip.

UPDATE - 2/7/21

I tried to make an S10 throttle cable work. It's actually too long in the sheathing portion so it snakes across the top of the engine before attaching to the firewall. Not the ideal situation. It hooks to the gas pedal rod just fine and snaps into the TB bracket like it should. However, the barrel on the TB end is too fat to fit into hole in the TB linkage. I chose not to drill the linkage hole larger since once you drill it out, you cant go back the other way without replacing the linkage parts or TB. So instead I filed the barrel down to fit and its together but I marred and boogered up the cable a bit in the grinding process. The S10 cable is installed and it works but it falls a tad short of opening the throttle blades fully, probably not enough to make a difference though.

Anyway, because of these sketchy things with the S10 cable (picked at junkyard for $8), I've bit the bullet and bought a used 95 Caprice LT1 cable (ebay $49). They are discontinued and getting rare quickly. One is on its way to us. It's the proper fit all around from what I hear. We'll see.....

Got the o2 bungs welded on to the header collectors, got new o2 sensors and picked up some header wrap but have not installed it yet

We took the tired factory motor mount bushings out and replaced them with energy suspension parts. I learned not to buy the complete aftermarket motor mounts (because I did and they're in the trash can now) because the metal is totally cheap and weak compared to the factory motor mount shells. Trust me, buy the energy suspension inserts and put them in to your factory shells if you need to change motor mounts.
 
factory caprice lt1 throttle cable is what i used. no problems with the install. works like it was designed for it.

Here is a pic of mine. The other cable is for the cruise control. It sits higher than the throttle cable.

Thanks for confirmation on the cable.

Is that a belt driven water pump on there? I’m curious as to how you got that to work, what with the reverse flow design of the LT1 and all that. Are you still running Opti?
 
What you seeing is the belt driven cooling fan that came on caprices equipped with hd cooling. Still has opti and reverse flow lt1 water pump.
