hey

the car is close to perfect when starting, however i think it will take a little more cold adjustment to get this choke pull off working like new.

It fires up ok, however i have to pump the gas a little to keep it going until it stays going on the choke. It runs fine on the choke until i tap the pedal and it releases. Sometimes it seems to run a tad too low and stall, however when its completely warm it works fine. I am guessing that the pull off is needs to be set to open just a little bit more to keep it running from cold.

Does anyone know the correct procedure for doing this, i don't want to screw up the already near perfect settings. Thanks.

I would just let it warm up a little more, rather than messing up a good thing. IMO

x2. When was the last time you checked the fuel filter ? Plugs and wires help too.

I had the same problem. Fuel filter looked OK, but once I swapped it out with a new one the issue seems to have been resolved.

Has the choke ever had it's rivets replaced with screws? If not, you can get these pieces from an older carb and install them after first removing the rivets. After that, you can adjust it fairly easily.I forget which direction is lean and which is rich, but it is easy enough to tell. Rich makes the choke close. This is done by rotating the black plastic housing until you get it right. I usually do it when the engine is cold to get it positioned right without the choke heater throwing it off. You have it adjusted right when the choke plate is about half closed at 80 degrees ambient temperature, maybe a little more. Just remember that it will not move to it's maximum setting until you open the throttle a little to allow the fast idle cam to position itself.
