MAPP Gas Aluminum Brazing

Anyone done it? Got any tips, do's, or don'ts?

I made an oopsie. While trying remove a bolt boss, I blew through with the deburring bit.

Never done it personally. I would have it tig'd shut then smooth it out. Take a good welder a couple of minutes and you'd be good to go.

I have used these with great success. A friend of mine does AC work and has fixed condensers

the juice isn't worth the squeeze on this one,if YOUR repair fails it's gonna be a pain to r&i everything only to have it repaired correctly.finish the rest of the intake and have it welded up.it'll be $hort money too.

I agree with melloelky. I know welders around here wouldnt charge more then 50$. I also question if the new mapp gas gets hot enough to make a strong repair since aluminum dissipates heat so well.

Seriously, I would weld it up at work, or have a weldor do it if you don't have access to the rig.

Maybe "brazing" isn't exactly the correct term, even though that's what they call it. I think the stuff is more akin to soldering. I was going to try it,then if it works, go ham on all the unnecessary holes. I do have a welder buddy I could hit up, though.

I have used them with great success on the intake that is on the 40 over rering engine and I used it on a NOS plate

Any TIG Welder I know that welds aluminum would fix that for $20.

It will be about 2 minutes and he'll hand it back to you.
