because its fun is not a reason.

Sex is fun, driving cool cars is fun, eating cake is fun, watching sports is fun, etc, etc.None of the above is neccessary for personnal survival.
Because it is fun is a VERY valid reason.

It's addictive personalities that cause the problems, whether it's alcohol, pot, or harder drugs, or even something like sugar. There's plenty of "functional" users of any substance, but on the flip side of that, there's also the people that are easily carried away. It all boils down to the simple matter of self control. Some people have it, lots of people don't.

I've been on all sides of this, from using it too much, to not at all, to just a little bit here and there. Sure, if I don't have access to it I think, 'I kinda wanna get baked', but other than maybe getting a bit bored, there aren't any immediate side effects to not using it. Alcohol on the other hand is so addictive, that when you're hung over the next day(or even the same day), that is your body going through withdrawl, it is that addictive, that fast.

I'm all for its legalization/decriminalization. I'd rather smoke a pinch than drink any day.

85 Cutlass Bro: it's funny you said that you tried it to help you with your sleeping probs, cause I was actually going to suggest it to you when you had previously mentioned your trouble falling asleep. In small doses I still think it would help you once you got accoustomed to it, but if it's not for you, than it's not for you, that's how it is. Food (properly made) is one of the most potent ways to ingest it, especially for a new user, no wonder you tweeked it.
And on a side note, don't say that you regret anything in your life, ever. Life is simply full of valuable experiences to learn from.

what if you are addicted to sports to the point that you are driving around with a screen on the dash watching sports???

Everybody here needs to read the book "The Emperor's New Clothes" by Jack Herer (2000 & 2004 3rd party Presidential Candidate) it is the definitive book on marijuana and marijuana laws. It is taboo and kinda hard to get, but it is worth it. The first 1/2 of the book is his thesis on marijuana, its effects on the body, and why it should be legal, the second half of the book is shrunken down copies of every document he references.

When I bought a copy in the 90's there was a $10,000 challenge to anyone who can disprove anything in his book. To my knowledge it has never been collected on.

I smoked marajuana casually until about 10 years ago, and I think marajuana should be made legal. But then again Tomothy Leary and others thought LSD should be legal. The line has to be drawn somewhere, and marajuana is one thing that is just slightly over the line. To a lot of people (especially older lawmakers) anyone who smokes any amount of marajuana is a pothead. It's just about as insane as saying everyone who drinks is an alcoholic. To be honest though, I don't think that fact that marajuana is illegal stops too many people who want to smoke it from doing so, sort of the same way prohibition didn't stop too many drinkers from getting booze.

but isnt weed more addictive than alchol? doesnt it make you crave more powerfull drugs? alchol once your drunk, your drunk, but with weed, isnt it true that the high starts wearing off faster and you start craving a longer high- thus making you want harder more dangerous drugs?

That is the biggest misconception period and is the only argument the War on Drugs has which is bullshit.

When people get drunk they want to snort Coke, when people get high they want to eat food and then fall asleep. I see ALLOT of coke heads in the bars just about anywhere I go. If anything drinking leads to more dangerous drugs such as popin Vicotin or Norcos.

Once the high wears off with grass you smoke another and feel just as high as you did before, tolerances aren't gained as dramatic as Heroin or Coke/Crack and with Coke/Crack, well you want more and more Coke/Crack. The same thing goes with Meth. I have never seen one person in my life move from smoking dope to becoming a heroin addict or coke addict and I know a sh*t load of people that smoke grass from College and High School. In fact I know some local Police/Firefighters and Teachers that smoke. More PROFESSIONAL people smoke on a daily basis than you think and lead very wealth and prosperous lives. It's the person, not the plant.
