I understand everything you guys are saying but if I accidentally put the ratchet shifter in drive and start it Its gonna fly forward and might hit something, I'm just going with what my directions are saying but I just can't find it in this car

lol so if I hook the old linkage up also then I don't have to worry about cutting and splacing wires? Seriously, though, Blake is right. If the backdrive linkage is still there and functioning, then you shouldn't even have to worry about any of this. When you run your shifter through each location, the collar around the steering column should rotate. This rotating collar is what controls the P/N lockout and the backup lights, just like if it were a column shifter.
