I understand everything you guys are saying but if I accidentally put the ratchet shifter in drive and start it Its gonna fly forward and might hit something, I'm just going with what my directions are saying but I just can't find it in this car

Well don't do that then

Seriously, though, Blake is right. If the backdrive linkage is still there and functioning, then you shouldn't even have to worry about any of this. When you run your shifter through each location, the collar around the steering column should rotate. This rotating collar is what controls the P/N lockout and the backup lights, just like if it were a column shifter.

lol so if I hook the old linkage up also then I don't have to worry about cutting and splacing wires? I kept everything from when I disconnected the old linkage so I could easily put it back

hmm i havent wired my swithces up yet, but i do not know what i did with my factory linkage. anyone have a spare?

so the collar on the column will rotate fine as long as the key is on, but my question is where will the factory linkage hook to on the transmission since the B&M shifters use a different shift arm for cable

Bolt the aftermarket (B&M, Hurst, etc...) arm right on top of the stock piece.
Once you have it properly adjusted, it is suggested you weld them together, but I've been fine with just bolting them together...

man now i really need to figure out where my stock stuff went. i had never thought about this before hand. but its so much easier than wiring
