Metal in the pan

I was about to fix a transmission leak(shifter shaft seal)and I dropped the pan(th400). What I found in the pan was 15 metal peices. Would this be the intermediate sprag?

Looks like the splines in the case from the lo reverse clutch.

Ya it does look like that, what would cause that?

The same thing happened to my friends 4L60E. I'm waiting to hear back from him since I don't remember what it was.

This was a stock used trans just to get me rolling anyway so I'm not too bummed. I'll have a trans built for race with a brake for next season.

Guess I'll know more once I tear it down. It's disappointing, I'm done for this year.
