it is called the inner fender brettlaage03. it goes fender, inner fender, then the plastic wheel well or splash guard. whichever you prefer.

I definitely want a set of metal wheel wells so i could smooth them out, i hate all the raised mounting points on the plastic ones.

cut off the high points, glass it and paint them. still light weight, no issues with rust but they'll be nice and smooth.

i think it's a more viable option than looking for some rare part that might come in who knows what condition and what price.

the plastic ones are a dime a dozen, buy an extra pair and smooth em, glass work isnt that difficult, just pay attention to detail.

i personally dont give a hoot what mine look like beyond being clean but then again if you saw my car you'd understand why...lol

I can tell you that the two 78 Grand Am's I parted out both had steel fenderwells and my 80 El Camino has plastic.

Doug, Do you have any parts left from these cars? I've probablly already asked.........

About the inner fender whells. 78 and 79 were metal and 80 on were plasctic. I'd check the weight on each. I think the metel ones may be lighter.

Guys,

One way to get around the rusty Inner Fender issue is to powdercoated them. That's what I've done. Powdercoating works well and makes parts look really good. The issue of Wheel Wells is another problem. I also wanted metal wheel wells but had no luck finding some for my 81 GP. Therefore, I cut off all the unsightly bumps and mounting point and smoothed the plastic. They will get painted over the winter. Here are a few pictures.

grandamman,
I've got one complete front clip with doors (haven't decided if I'll put it on my El Camino yet), one nose piece in need of some work, and some odds and ends. At best, the parts are in just fair condition at this time. I haven't thought about selling anything as yet, I'm still looking for the four wheel well mouldings to replace the corroded ones I've got (they're the ones that tie into the side mouldings). It's so hard finding mouldings in Mich. that aren't eaten away by salt (just looking for undented and solid mouldings but not excellent or show quality).
SORRY, didn't mean to hijack your post!

Doug
