needs some work, spoke to the owner said the way the fuel pump is wired is why it wont start please give honest opinions

Looks like somebody got in WAY over their head...There is a lot of work to be done.
I'd be looking to pick it up for under $600, and only if the frame and underbody is solid.
just my $.02

they said everything is straight, he said that the fuel pump is wired straight to the battery, it has one because of the swapped 350 how would i go about wiring it up? it has a 650cfm carb...idk if that helps

I would not buy anything without hearing it run unless your willing to spend an extra grand for an engine. If he has the fuel pump hardwired to the battery why can't he run it? What else does it need? I would venture to say I bet it's not as clean as they say it is but it is definitely worth a look.

first $1,200 is way to much. If it is suppose to be only the fuel pump, I would have someone drip fuel in the carb and turn it over and start it. If the pump is wired straight to the battery should be no issue, connect a battery, listen to the pump operation, pump the carb, visually see the fuel in the intake and turn the key and try to fire it up. Fuel pump has to be running all the time to run the engine anyway. I would also check the oil for the milk shake, check the transmission for burnt transmission fluid. How was the interior? Always error on caution first. Bring a gearhead friend to check it out!

Yea if the pump is wired straight to the battery you should be able to start it with a jump. I would honestly have him take the car out . You get under it and look over every square inch of the car. check the interior look under the dash for rigged wiring too. Bring a magnet with you and place it over door sills and such just to see if the car is all bondo in areas. I think the car looks good but for 1200 I wanna make sure its solid.

"motor does not run just needs a few things to make run"

man, you see that a lot on craigslist. Usually the "few things" are a LOT of dollars. Like everyone else says above, check it out thoroughly, what the guy says means absolutely nothing.

The first 90% of a project takes the first 90% of your budget. The other 10% of the project takes the other 90% of your budget.

One thing I have learned when buying things is to never listen to the seller. He says its straight and no dents. Id be willing to bet that theres some body damage somewhere. He says it needs "little" work to get it to run, if hes selling it why doesnt he do the "little" work himself and then get more from the car? Just little sh*t like that you have to find out on your own and not let someone tell you how it is. IMO $1,200 is too high considering the fact that the fuel pump is wired to the battery, probly means he didnt know what he was doing and rigged everything else up.

It sounds like an abortion to me. I would tread very carefully. Look it over well. I wouldn't give him $1200. for it. It does sound like things have been rigged on this car. Fuel pump connected directly to the battery.... doesn't run.
I would look at it as a car that needs an engine...and price it accordingly.
Look it over for rust...frame rails, floors, lower doors, quarter panels, fenders.
Judging by the front picture. It looks like it was bopped in alittle on the drivers side. The bumper is set back a bit.
Just exercise caution...or buyer beware. Let us know what happens. Good luck!
