Mild Rambling with a Dose of Stupidity

You have to learn when you're the new kid on the block to stay quiet about your opinions of the guys who are working there when you got there. The guys may have been trying to send you a message they didn't want to work on your car.by taking alot longer than they should have. It would have been better to talk to the technician about your car to see what the issues were instead of behind his back. You have to remember the guys at the shop owe you nothing but will protect the other guy's back who they have been working with. If you were not happy with the progress they were making you could have used an excuse to get your car towed from there.

Yep. I mean, there's not really much to say on my end. It was a crappy situation all around. I'm not angry about how this all turned out, just mildly annoyed. The only reason I allowed my car to be towed there was because there was no money up front, I came off a 4 month no job stint and had nothing. If I would've had say, 300 bucks, I could've fixed it myself. Live and learn I suppose.

I hear you. I started out pumping gas and washing cars and ended up owning 3 nice shops in Tallahassee. It was always an issue finding good help. I had some great guys work for me for years and a lot of others that just didn't cut the mustard. We did the work that you did and up but mostly specialized in drivability. There is always a need for a good tech but if I were to start again I would focus on one manufacturer and get all the certifications and training possible. This stuff has gotten way to complicated and you have to show your boss that you are worth the investment of training. In the end it is up to you and the luck that you earn, nobody owes you anything. But you need to not only work hard but work smart. I had a guy in the 90's that was making $70k a year working for me on commission. If the auto world is not your passion, don't do it. I loved it but the only ride I work on now is my El C.
Good luck and I get the frustration. I am the car guy where I work and I hear a lot of stories on shops.

As for the firing, it was better than mine back in '08. I got fired for placing an order for a customer, sold another customer something, then made a correction with inventory. All made & saved the company money. I also was getting activated for Iraq for trip #2 so they needed a reason to "not" deal with another deployment. They forgot I worked for them when I came back from trip #1. It built up from me getting the ESGR (https://www.esgr.mil/) involved with forgeting I worked for them, the return to work demotion, passed over for promotion, very noticeable displeasure of my National Guard service. They lied to me about thing they was to do to "fix" things, that the person sent from the main store was staying the manager & tried to hide making the beautician with no expriance manager (& still had to come to me for everthing.) But if I had her "skills" I could of done better (she was sucking & banging the other, was caught in the office doing so a few times along with a few customers, sights that bleach can't clean they eyes.) Maybe I should tried for sloppy 42's & would kept my job (but the wife wouldn't of been too happy with me, say divorce & a trip to the free clinic. This is why I won't say or suggest the former employer for paints & parts.
