Evenin folks. I spent tonight putting in my camshaft and what not and decided to bolt on the oil pump to check clearances.

The oil pump I bought from summit was the Milodon 18756 standard volume/high pressure. After mounting it in place, a part of the oil pump housing is to thick and is interfering with the crank counterweight at the back of the motor. That part of the housing shown in the pic needs to be machined about an 1/4 to 1/2 an inch to clear the weight.

Summit has already agreed to exchange the oil pump for another brand. I'm just going to be going with an M55 since most of the quality issues have been resolved from the lightweight castings and sbc's really don't need HV or HP anyways. I will be contacting Milodon to let them know of this issue in hopes that it will be resolved.

Nope a regular 350 with a stock forged crank from 79'. The guy at summit said that it appears the casting on the milodon pump looks thicker in that area than typical castings as Milodon did not go with the lighter castings like most other companies did.
