"you must have a minimum of 50 hours of supervised practice driving that includes at least 15 hours of
driving after sunset" That's the whole point. How the F$%# are you supposesd to get night time driving in when you are forbidden to drive at night in NYC and on Wrong Island? I'm growing a beard waiting for DMV to get back to me on this. EDIT: I tried calling and after suffering though the idiotic menu I was told they are too busy to answer my question. NICE!!!

OK, here is what the NY DMV replied:
"Dear Mark

The nighttime driving can be after 5 am to daylight or between dusk to night (9pm). If you can assist him with that, he will then meet that requirement.

Please let us know if you need any additional information."

Not exactly what I would call "nighttime" driving especially this time of year.

Like I said before, all you need to do is sign a form saying he did it

Official dusk is at 9:03 pm. So he can drive from dusk to 9pm. What geniuses.

My 16th birthday in 1985 was also the last day of school. 1/2 day. Hopped on my Mongoose BMX and hitailled it to the DMV in Medford, on Long Island. Took my permit test, was issued a learner's permit and immediately signed up for a road test, which was about 3 weeks later. In those days they issued you a "junior license" for the first year where you were only supposed to drive during daylight hours (unless coming or going to work) and were not supposed to have anyone under I think 21 in the car unless accompanied by an adult. In all the times me and my shitbox 68 Chevelle got pulled over with a full car, the only time a cop ever gave me grief was when I was by myself at dusk when he pulled up to check on me changing a flat tire.

I got my license in 1970. In those days you could drive around with a case of beer in the back seat and an ounce of weed in the glove box. But don't you dare have a peace sign sticker or a loud exhaust. Then you were a cop magnet.

I think Iowa is still like that in many areas!
