My $1900 83 cutlass supreme

There are many people happy with a 307 and it's still doing it's job after all these years so there is no reason to criticize it.
It's still a derpy motor. It's in no way performance oriented, although I suppose the HO is. They tried. The same can be said with any smog engine. It works. it moves the car. That's all it was really designed for.

Nice score there. The 307 can be quite peppy with the right parts. Sounds like you are already half way there with the carb and dual exhaust.
A cam swap would definitely wake it up even more.

I've thought about swapping the motor for a 350 but then again it hurts my heart to have the perfectly good and original 307 laying around.
So new cam in the 307 or swap it, decisions decisions.... I'm not drag racing it, but id like to burn out every now and again, and who doesn't love the sound of an oversized cam? My first cutlass had a 327 with a 480/480 hydraulic roller cam, and I liked the attention, been chasing something like that car ever since I got rid of it.
I have no idea what would be a good size oversized cam in the 307, does anyone even do that? Lol

Very nice!

I did not know that they used the high back buckets that late, thought 82+ were the lower back with separate headrest.

Only Olds used them. the rest of GM used the separate headrest style

I had a edelbrock cam in mine way back in the day. It wasn't rowdy by any means like what you are talking about, but definitely woke it up.

If you really intend on dipping into this 307, be sure to get a cam that will allow for maximum engine vacuum while also meeting your sound and performance needs. Replace old parts, with new better stuff, plugs, wires, cap, rotor, coil, usual stuff.
