I was always into mopars and muscle cars at the time i never cared to much about g bodied cars or anything from the 80s,i was caught by surprise when my first car was going to be a 1986 olds cutlass supreme,my dad had purchased it from an old lady who drove it as a daily driver, then she got a newer car and left the cutlass sit, then after a while put it up for sale, first $2000 then $1200 then $1000 then finally since no one would by it,she had her son (who was friends with my dad) offer my dad the car for $200 (200 because they went to the junkyard and that was the price to crush the car) and so he bought it.Now, the cutlass wasnt in horrible shape, but the burgundy metallic paint was faded it was missing a grille on the drivers side ,had 3 pairs of different rims,a broken taillight and a glasspack muffler where the stock one had sat.I had to walk down one day to help work on it,the first time i saw it i fell in love with it,it was idling in a grassy lot on a coldish november day, just purring at me,i fell in love with it.We drove it back to our garage ( what a drive! it was so sluggish)and there it sat for four months until i had fixed the engine. The 307 y code v8 was very greasy, the engine was miss firing, smoking terribly and felt like it had only 20 horsepower when driving it to the garage. After cleaning the engine off and lots of oil changes it ran like a top and sounded like hell with a glasspack muffler,It had low gears i remember but im not sure what ratio, the beloved car was sold july 2008 and unbearibly miss it,i would love to track it down one day,it was sold to a couple who lived in detroit, lesson number one, never sell your first car.

hey everything happens for a reason...now you have a salon one of the most rarest of cutlass gbodies 😀. welcome again...oh and everyone miniion seems like a great gbody guy and im glad he joined the forum. check his other videos out on youtube!

I know what it's like to be a 60's and 70's mopar guy(look at my sig, there's more mopars in the family), and wind up with an 80's g-body... I never expected this... But hey when they fall in your lap (mine did, but not so like yours) you can't turn down gm's last carburated V8 olds powered olds that is also rwd! I geuss my dad's venture off of mopar into poncho land when he was a kid is the only reason I have any gm interest.(still got mopars though) So I geuss I had some help with my BOP obsession.
I don't want to ever sell mine. I'm going to listen to everyone else when they say they regret it and NOT have a regret, I'll have the car 8)
Also, I looked at your vids, you've got NICE replacment car man!!

i kick myself everyday for selling mine.

86 monte carlo, rebuilt the engine myself (from a 70 camaro) cam intake ect.

2500 stall built turbo 350 308 posi true duals.

Man that car was a riot. SS with the stock monte nose and no badges 🙁🙁🙁

I've had mine for going on 7 years now...used it as a DD until around 4 years ago... no rust through, and the 3.8 boat anchor mod had already been done in favor of a 305(which the guy I bought it from bought it as was, and was told it was a 350), and looked like the motor came that way from the factory... only reason he sold it was because it didn't have a tilt column in tit, and he couldn't fit in it anymore... (did I mention his nickname is "lunchbox? no joke!). I picked it up for $400 and haven't looked back ever since.

when the wife and I bought our first house, the last thing to bring over was the regal, that's when she said "why don't you just leave it there?", and I followed back with "I could always leave you there..... she's much more on board with it being a project now! 😛

I cringe with the thought of ever parting with it, but know at some point it may happen...

on a side note to marcar:
I share your affection with early mopars- I had a '73 satellite 4dr that looks almost like your wagon, and I'm still kicking myself 17 years later for selling it... of all my car memories, that car has always been my favorite.

I was glad to get rid of my first car, a real piece of junk, a 1984 Ford Escort!!!!!!

Same here I'm glad I got rid of my first car cause I was a big ricer fan and I had a turbo acura legand 2 door 5 speed and I thought it was faster than a ferrari cause I had a v6 lol but I went on to a good place and got me a good old s-10 that was lowered with a 355 and a 5 speed now you want to talk about fast that thing was beastly but I traded it for my newest SS that I will never get rid of
