So I turn 66 on the 22nd of this month. I've been in the process of resto modding if that's what they call it now My '81 El Camino. I received this car on a trade from a good friend of mine, it cost me an AC compressor, dryer, orifice tube and a few o-rings that I installed on my buddies cavalier lol. He's still driving it so I guess I did okay. My friend Lenny owned this car for 20 years he was the second owner I am the third I mentioned earlier I have had three previous El Caminos they all had serious body rot. When I had this one stripped to metal and painted The only rust spot was around the back window driver side about 1 and 1/2 to 2 in which I had filled with metal... It currently has a 305 ho tune port engine from a '85 IROK Camaro complete with wiring harness and a stage 2 chip in the Ecm(remember the old chip days). I just purchased a 383 engine from Skip White Performance along with a set of their NKB aluminum cylinder heads(68cc PBM valves) with a stage two cam setup which should be good for somewhere between 475 and 525 horsepower depending on what I decide for intake, headers, carb, etc. I also picked up a turbo 200 4R from an '86 Monte Carlo SS real deal and the rear differential with 342 gears. (what a score) that is being built by none other then Dave Husik of TurboBuick.com Fame. Actually I'm sending him the CZF valve body and a couple of other parts to be modified and I'll build it myself not a big deal just got to have the right parts (200s are a little weird but did I mention I did work for Cadillac in the '80s) anyway this is the beginning of my build thread. I love this forum and you guys are the best send me some info if you think I'm screwing up lol I'm open to any and all comments thanks guys this is a great website.
