Still have the AMC. I pulled the ad after two weeks for fear of it getting stale and the details being too memorable in the minds of the AMC faithful. However, there is about to be progress on the car! I finally bought a welder today ($89 at Harbor Freight! ) and will start the welding tomorrow. All I plan on is replacing the rotted section of the inner fender that the battery goes on, so it should be a pretty simple job.

Tools of the trade: A pair of flanging pliers, a ball and pein hammer, an angle grinder with a variety of wheels, and a hammer and dolly set.

Final cuts made. Note that I left a strip of the old metal to help support the new section.

A little progress today. I have been applying some of that pink jellied rust remover to the metal that is left behind, and it is almost done doing it's think. I am hoping that I will get to weld it in tomorrow if I can get up out of bed before 3pm.

How'd the AMC ever turn out sir? I just now read through this thread. I know it's been quite some time but what's the situation??

I have not seen him posting in months..........hope everything turned out OK. I remember the truck was near dead and he was considering selling off what he could to keep his head above water. I am sure any guy who could live off Raman Noodles for months to afford paint for his car could survive anything !!!
