my reverse lights only come on in neutral

How do i fix my reverse lights so they come on in reverse they only come on in neutral

Sounds like it might be the neutral safety switch. Is it the stock shifter?

I cant remember what its called, but if its stock, it something other than neutral safety switch and IIRC its located in the column.
Has there been any recent work done under the dash or anything that could mess with any wiring?

yes ive ran wires under the dash and drop the column before but the reverse lights have always worked but in neutral
