what kind of car? do you know the rear gear ratio? on the donor car? if you've got much lower rear gears it'll be a pig. also do a brake stand and see how it goes.
funny note: when i first got my monte going i pulled it outside and punched the gas. i thought i was driving a fuso in 2nd, went nowhere fast. i finally realized that i was spinning both tires instantly. because of the posi the car stayed straight and went forward, just accelerated slow.

It may sound obvious, but did you set the timing properly? I am thinking that you probably pulled the distributor for the swap and put it back after the engine was installed. If you did not set the timing right it would not drive right. Also, check to see if the advance mechanism is sticking.

its from a 1980 camaro...we didnt pull the distributor out...but we did set timming right...th rear end is still the same one from the cutlass.....

the cutlass's usually came with a 2.56 rear gear. the monte may have had a 3.73. that would make a big difference in acceleration.

good thing i still got my monte ....im going to try and swap the axle somtime soon and see if itl make a differnce....thanks fr all the help...
