Alright G-Body guru's, what is this connection for and where is it supposed to go? Its on my '82 231 (ECM was removed). Some info would be great, thanks

Not sure that is factory, given the gauge and connector.....Is it part of the red wire leading out to the right of the pic? If so, where is that going to?

No, the other red wire is connected directly from the alternator to the positive battery terminal

The red wire with the tape is not factory, some weird thing the PO did. Personally I would walk away from a G body that has had the ECM removed, it is a red flag that the car's wiring is probably hacked up every which way. These cars are just so prone to having butchered wiring by their POs.

Being a heavy gage wire like that, it is probably a high amp line to something, maybe the dist?

Whatever it is, it's got some power. I accidentally arced it on something when i was moving it around. I'm just wanting to get this thing cleaned up and hook everything back up. I'll be doing the full ECM delete eventually

I bet you don't have a high speed on your heater fan...I think that is the feed for it. There is a connector at the passenger side of the engine near the front of the valve cover that the red wire should be part of
