Thanks to all, I think I need (despite GM's literature saying otherwise) one of these

I'd pay a reasonable price for one if somebody has one. Found some NOS/used versions for ridiculous money (also fits "CORVETTE"), really don't want to pay the vette tax. Apparently was used on 78/79 A/G body, and trucks with 454sand some w/350 through the 80s/90s.

lilbowtie , thanks for the pics and offer. The new Pioneer 4bbl cable I bought is the same length, so that answers one question that was kicking around in my head.

I think the combination of '79 QJ and circa '72 intake just won't work with the 81+ throttle/trans cable bracket (support in GM nomenclature)

I'll check my Q Jet stash tomorrow, I may have some extras lurking around.

Brian,
I have this one from a past project. Not made of unobtainium, also no Corvette blood line so the price will reflect it.

$20.00 shipped USPS. PM me if your interested.

Sorry it took so long. I am doing final assembly of my 64 Malibu SS, so had the trim pieces spread all over the hood of my 79. The attached pictures are my 79 Malibu. The car seems pretty original, so I assume the cable is correct. These are the best I could do with my phone. Let me know if you need more. Larry
