Hi what should i do im going down to Florida to pick up my Monte its been sitting in my storage for 6 months now so what do you recommend i do to make sure it starts up ok and i know the gas in it is old and i will be buying a new battery for it as well so i would like any advise on what to do before i start it up so i dont damage anything.
when you are ready to start it up remove the power wire to the distributor and turn over the engine till the oil pressure builds up so you lubricate the engine before firing it up

if you have an oil pressure gauge I would wait until pressure build up to at least 10 lbs and if you don't then I would turn the engine over for about 20 -30 seconds before starting it...as long as the low oil pressure lite is off that is...
and no need to apologize...this is the place to ask question and we all started out at some point not knowing too much. I wish this forum was around when I was starting out to play around with cars and I wouldn't have had to rely on my many, and some costly, mistakes to teach myself....
Thanks ill try that my car has a oil gauge and when it reaches 10lbs stop and connect the power to the distributor back on and fire her up ok thanks and ill do also the stuff from above.
For whom ever i was told to put 2 rubbing alcohol bottle into my gas tank before i start it with new gas as well has anyone ever heard of this or done it. Is it safe i was told its like an octane booster and also clean the carb at the same time.
