Needs some motor opinions

I used Dart S/R Torquer 2.02 heads on my 406. I bought them 25 years ago and the chambers came in at 68 cc. Four years ago, I had to sleeve #1 cylinder after 20 years and 80,000 miles. I had the shop bore the cylinder to match the rest of them; the other seven only needed a hone. Two regrets - I reused the original stock crank and rods that were balanced to the forged pistons in 1995. Two years later, everyone was chasing LS motors and I found an uncut 400 block for $50. I may go the Eagle route with 5.7 rods and pre-balanced rotating assembly. I wonder about adding splayed four-bolt main caps to my $50 GM block....that said, I wouldn't mind having a roller cam....that said, the aftermarket one-piece rear main block sounds better....THAT said, maybe an LS is not that much more money.

Not taunting you , but there are so many ways to dispose of money.

😂😂😂What you mean update the pistons and rods the pistons (l88) were only 40+ years old, rods (Crower) are going to be freshened up resized ,got a really good deal on the rotating assembly pistons were new old stock replacements kinda ashame but owell
I’m sorry I didn’t know factory L 88 pistons are a nitrous design gas port maybe move the top ring away from the heat then spray that big block with a real shot of nitrous that it deserves not a 150 shot like kids are spraying in their Hondas

Definitely use the longer rods in the SBC. I have a stroked 305 -no comments from the peanut gallery please- it uses the 5.562 rods and the rod angle is atrocious at BDC. With that giant gear you have get the longest rod that will clear the cam. Expect to notch the block but you won't regret it. Honestly I think you have too much gear for a street car but that a different conversation

What he forgot to tell you guys is he is running a 32" x 14.50" tire on back halved car with that gear.
