Hi I'm desperate. Anyone with advice or suggestions please comment.

Basically the motor is what is in my signature. I have had it running and broke in the cam. Tried to set the total timing and it was running.
Now I cant start the car and don't know what the issue is.
I have so much money into this paperweight that I am shaking I am so angry and cant think straight.
I'm hoping that someone here can think for me. LOL.

Car was flooding and I figure the fuel pressure was too high so I just installed a pressure regulator and I think I have it set to 5.5lbs which is what Edelbrock recommends.

I don't know what happened. At first the car would fire right up at the turn of the key.

Ask me questions. I don't even know what I have tried anymore.
I know I have spent way too much on fresh oil because the flooding was/is dumping into it.

Please help.
Thanks

if you're getting spark and fuel I'd check the plugs...it's usually something basic with these engines

I had all the plugs out today.
They were wet and black. Cleaned them, dried them, turned the engine over a few times with a pair of vice grips on the fuel line, then put the plugs back in.

I thought spark may be the problem. I had spark but though it may be weak or not consistent so last week I bought a new ignition module and installed it.

It ran for a while, then we set the total timing without increasing the rpms so I know I screwed that up.
Car stumbled and died when I was putting it back in the garage. Hasn't started since.

Have you tried backing off the timing a couple of degrees

I tried turning it both ways from the zero mark.
I'm not sure which way would be backing it off clockwise or counter clockwise but tried it both ways.
It wanted to start and would run for a few seconds with my foot to the floor but if I backed off on the gas it would stall.

after you broke in the cam did you remove the distributor? It sounds like the timing is way off

No, it was never taken out after breaking in the cam. It even ran 2 weeks ago and I took the car around the block. That's when we set the timing wrong.
It was fun to take around the block. I knew it wasn't right but still couldn't get traction.

The timeline is a little vague. We broke the cam in months ago. It's been the last month I've been having trouble starting the car. A few times we have gotten it going and played with the Carb or timing. We shut it off and when it cools down we have to go through the process again to get it going. The process includes killing the battery and flooding it.
