I worked for toyota for a little while. I know in my region you can only get the yaris liftback with power windows in the "s" package, i dont know if that is an issue with you or not, the s package also brings the sticker price to around 14K iirc. I also know part of the reasoning behind the price on the yaris being so low was the lack of safety features normally standard on many other toyota's. I would assume that part of the reason for hondas price being higher would be more advanced safety features, however, and this is completely off topic but any electrical component on a honda or toyota will say denso on it, that company is owned by toyota. 🙂

Why not a certified used version? You'll be taking a huge hit in depreciation after driving a new one off the lot,& the money you'd save you'd be driving the new one with "free" gas, with that money.2-3 year old cars these days ARE new basically, but with less expense of insurance, depreciation, etc. with cars these days getting 150,00 + miles easily with usually zero issues,if you perform regular required maintenance

I think you need a 50% pay cut because union labor gets paid too damn much. That's MY opinion, and I don't care either! Plus, MY current Japanese import is made in Tennessee, not Japan. It just was made with superior non-union labor. Unions have been raping our economy for years and now have to pay the piper. I do not believe industry is not without fault and that unions never did any good, but now they just impede progress. Nationalism is not a good reason to buy a car that is not a sound financial decision. It's like spending the same money to buy a house in the slums that you would for a similar house in a nice suburb. Sure you may want to support your old neighborhood, but in doing so you will probably be wasting your money and consigning yourself to financial ruin. If American companies want to sell me a car, they have to build one I would want to own, and that makes good financial sense in terms of operating costs and residual value when I am ready to buy another.

Because the interest rate is higher and it will not have the whole warranty. Plus, it won't be new, and I may have a hard time finding one that was owned by a non-smoker as I don't buy cars owned by smokers due to the affect it has on my allergies.

all 3 of those choices are for girls or f*s , which 1 are you ?
Poor from spending $400 a month on gas to drive a 4 cylinder truck. Plus, I don't need a car to compensate for certain "shortcomings". By your comment I can only assume you do. I also like being able to actually afford to leave the house too, not just sit in the driveway and wonder just how manly some anonymous guy on the internet may think my choice of transportation appliance is. Then again, by your standards, I should forgo finishing my education because doing so makes me temporarily need to drive a small efficient, reliable car so that I can study instead of working more hours to buy extra gas. Maybe I will build a nasty big block for my Cutlass or replace it with an F-250 and resign myself to living in a trailer the rest of my life because, hey, some guy may think poorly of me for driving a small car.
