Just picked up a pair of new upper door hinges off of RockAuto because no matter what I do I can't get the originals to stop clunking. Last I checked these were about $120 each on Classic Industries etc. The ones I got were $35 each. Their Goodmark, don't know if anyone else makes them.

Just thought I'd put the word out. Should be about 4 pairs remaining.

Quality any good? Price seems almost too cheap and god knows they have a lot of weight to support

Looks exactly like the originals except they're all new, tight and the roller bearing isn't worn into a cube that clunks opening and closing your door. I tried once to install GM's idea of a replacement bearing/pin and apparently destroyed the bearing attempting to drive it into the used sedan hinge I put in, and has taken liberty to clunk/snap/crackle/pop just as bad as the original that had almost 30 years of sag/wear.

Haven't installed, and won't for who knows how long (when the car finally gets taken apart and repaired/repainted). These cars had so much adjustability built into them that they'd have to be for a completely different car to have a fit issue. They're black e-coated, so you just have to scuff and spray to match.

One thing I haven't compared is the spring. Sedans had a smaller (shorter/less coils) spring than coupes, I am assuming if there was one place they skimped it would be there. I would guess the new spring in the new hinge would be a medium sized spring, as the aftermarket intends these to be universal for anything A/G bodied from 1978-1988.

Hopefully they are good. I worry about the spring and just general metal fatigue, you know what I mean? If the materials aren't quality and have all that door weight hanging on them, they would just sag and you'd have another problem.

I know what your saying about the bushing/pin replacement, that was a pain in the *ss

Ive use several of the goodmark hinges from Rockauto, so far no problems except one that had the holes drilled wrong.
