Hi Dave
Welcome from Niagara. Your Cutlass looks like a great project.
There is a Cutlass your style on the street just behind mine. Factory rally wheels, dark red, looked a little rough. Last summer it looked the guy got a new car and it had a for sale sign on the Cutlass. I didn't want to stop and ask the price in case the price was good. Too many cars in my driveway.
Can't wait until spring.

plans - win a million dollars...........wait make that 10 million dollars

but really what i would like to is as follows

Buick - i have always been a fan of the turbo cars , i have collected any bits & pieces to create a t-type clone
turbo hood , rear kick up spoiler , bigger sway bars front & rear , steering wheel , and a set nicely redone
factory t-type wheels , just install 4 new cooper GT on them. So the plan is spring time install all these parts
along with 4 springs and shocks , and continue my search for 2 doors at that point paint.

in my wildest dreams install a buick 350 into it.......then drive it like i stole it.

442 - get it to start & run right so i get drop at a shop to replace the rear frame rails , find the short that drains the battery
my guess is a butcher aftermarket stereo install .
drive it this summer , come next winter redo body bushings .....that you know will lead into too much floor pan work
i would not be surprised that very quickly be replacing rocker panels / etc.

Paint ... drive it the way it is and park it really to close peoples new BMW / porsches ..ok i am bad.

so for the part hunt looking for a rear bumper shock ( drivers side ) any ideas as to get one greatly welcomed
in the past the junk yards would have a new source of parts cars come spring , but now a days not too many
driven as daily drivers much less in winter.
Oh and 2 of the 15" Olds chrome gold insert wheels...like finding a needle in a hay stack

Pete
thanks for pointing out to me , that we could have a lot more snow here in toronto.

come on spring !!!!

Dave

Nice 442 you got there it isn't a hopeless car like you described it to be. I'm guessing those pics are from fall. This winter has become the biggest nuisance.

thank you , you are too kind trust me... but its mine . and a good chance it will be the rarest car I own in my life .
from what I have learned in 85 .. 3,000 were built and of that number 1,100 with the t-bar roof.

i only know of one other car like mine and it's a hard top been sitting in someone's driveway for the last 10 months at least.

Hi Dave. Welcome to the site from a fellow Torontonian.
Interesting avatar. I work near Jane & 401, & live not too far from that. Up to a couple of years ago, there used to be a Harvey's restaurant at Jane & 401.
442 looks solid, show us the Buick!
Here is a pic of my toy, it's an '87 Monte SS that I picked up last fall.

Rod ,
good looking SS ,it appears to have the same tail pipes as my cutlass . my personal opinion is all it needs some new RWL tires and then drive the rubber off of them...funny when i was younger i always would always mount my tires will the black wall out.....now it's the raised white letters that I want . what's your plans for it ?
google Harvey's home of the hot ones esp. jane & 401 its was the place to be back in the early 70's

later
Dave
ps - buick pictures are to come ..sadly all i have now are weak.....but in a few short weeks !!!

Hi Dave.
Googled Harvey's- wow- had no idea! In my day, it was hwys 5 & 10 in Miss., 'til the cops shut it down.
As far as the Monte, it's definitely a 20- footer, has some rust in the rear wheelwells, small spots in the floor, lots of road rash on the nose, needs paint. Frame is solid though. Gonna fix it up mechanically & drive it as a "survivor" for a while, & we'll see what happens. Unfortunately, I don't have a garage to store / work on it, so it sleeps outside under a tarp for the winter.
I was the same with RWL's, kinda still am actually.
Keep us posted on your progress.

Been researching Harvey's- found a video on FB of a run- looks like late '70's with a guy in a Cougar running a '69 Camaro- awesome! Thanks for helping me kill time on the graveyard shift lol.

LOL love the tree growing thru the fence. I am formerly of Parkdale then Weston and now in Bramalea myself. Welcome to the site. Did you frequent the Jane & 401 Harveys back in its Heyday ?? I was little but my older brother used to hang out there in the late 70's / early 80's and would sometimes take me 🙂

Sorry to hijack your thread, Dave.
In researching Dave's avatar, I learned some things about the Toronto car scene in the late 60's, early 70's that I was unaware of as I lived just outside of Toronto (Mississauga) as a teenager. Here is a link if anyone is interested, also helps explain Dave's avatar.

Could you imagine a burger joint doing this today?
