Hi there I have the engine and sagiaw 4 speed in the car , everything is good except my reverse rod is hanging up on my cross member , I was going to remove the cross member and heat it up and hammer it down what do think

If you shimmed the back of the transmission a quarter inch, would that solve the clearance problem?

Yes that might work also, I made a mstake it's not the reverse rod its the reverse tab on the bottom of the shifter where the rod hooks onto,
