Hey all,

I just picked up an 83 Monte Carlo SS with 88k miles on it and a blown motor.
This is my first G-body. The car is older than I am lol . I always had a love for these cars as when I was young they were everywhere (grew up in brooklyn, staten island, NJ) but anyway looking for some ideas on what to do with it. It is overall very clean minimal rust, some clear peeling.

I am a mechanic and also have a 01 cam only camaro SS 6mt car that I track regularly

Looking forward to seeing everyones ideas/rides on here.

Welcome!!! I am also a former New Yorker and had a love for those cars and the first gen g bodies as well. However, I am much older than that car. Anyway, what to do? What do want to see I. The future with that car? What is the ultimate goal? My advice would be: pick a plan and a budget and do not deviate from it. Make small changes but not big ones with regard to your plan. I restored a car a few years back and changed several times along the way. Wasted a lot of money. If I were you, start with an engine, trans and diff to be able to drive and enjoy while working on it and go from there. Sbc's are still a dime a dance!

Towed the car back to my shop today... didn't have much time to look at it but I did notice that, the driver side has no spark plugs, there's no battery, hooked the terminals up to my jump box just to see if it would do anything (crank, etc😉 but it didn't do anything at all so going to need to play with this more... i would like to see if it would at least crank

Nice. I envy your nearly rust free Monte. Lol. Mine needs some rust repair. It wouldn't take a lot to get your car looking pretty good.
