Nice. I envy your nearly rust free Monte. Lol. Mine needs some rust repair. It wouldn't take a lot to get your car looking pretty good.
thanks ! im sure that there is more rust that I didnt see laying in the dirt and puddles and weeds in the rain in the dark with flashlights and i did not get a chance to put it on my lift yet. Having PRK (laser corrective eye surgery tomorrow) so idk when I will get to take a good look at it im out of work for a week

Once you get your eyes fixed you'll be able to see exactly what you got. But, if there wasn't any obvious rust, hopefully everything's good.

yeah i mean my boy and me looked at it at night, then when i picked it up with the tow truck yesterday my other boy looked at it and said its got good potential so I think im good.

looked like maybe some rust on the control arm, fenders were clean which is good, body looks straight, no dents or anything.

need to put the interior back together. gonna just see if this 305 cranks or does anything at all while i narrow down my crate options.

Good deal. I hope it turns out good. Have you thought about the goals for the car? Have you decided what your plans are for it?

just a fast, good looking street car, that I can drive to some cars and coffee meets , maybe run some test n tunes with it just for fun. I plan everything like how items will work together with one another (e.g. engine to trans to stall, to rear , etc etc😉 but not how I will use the car lol I kinda just go with the flow. Like my Camaro SS in the other thread, I drive it on the street all the time, take it to car shows/meets, race it at the track etc;

I have an idea of the overall look of the car I want to go for so we will see

one question I do have is how do i open the trunk? previous owner shaved the key lock out, so the back seats are out so you can pop the trunk but was it supposed to be a cable or electronic?

Some had a solenoid to pop the trunk. Might be a button in the glove box but I'm not sure about that. Otherwise, as with my car, you just have to open it with the key.

the previous owner had the trunk key hole deleted and molded out so i really hope it has the solenoid because that would have been extremely dumb otherwise haha

Looks like a great foundation to build on. With your skill set and experience it sounds like an LS swap may be in your future?
I think I am going to do a Carbed 383 to be honest

I want something different than the LS in this

Hard to beat a good old fashioned carb on a stout motor that merely drops right in, that is what I ded to my aero coupe 9.75-1 383 with some Summit Vortec heads and a retro-fit hydraullic roller cam. Nice score, clean looking for sure. I have to be honest, I normally don't dig the white & blue interior, but it really looks great on that car.

Probably a trunk release solenoid in the glove box (originally anyway), might be worth a call to the previous owner.
