Welcome to the forum. That's a good looking Cutlass. You commented on potential engine choices, what about the transmission? Any suspension or brake upgrades in mind? I can't wait to see you transform this Cutlass into what you want it to be. I love watching people's projects come to life.

Absolutely. If I bite the bullet and go with a gen III swap I'm looking at doing a 4L80E. Definitely want to upgrade the suspension and brakes too. QA1 coilovers and full LS1 brake conversion is what's been floating in my head, but that's always subject to change. Especially researching these forums.

Sounds like you want to build an all around quick car that can handle? That's basically what I'm wanting to do with my '86 Monte Carlo.

That's it. Short term goal is a reliable 400hp street car. Something I can take to the local tracks and have a respectable number (shooting for high 11s in the quarter) and drive the 30-60 minutes it takes to get back home. I'd also like to have fun driving it home. That means being able to get in the turns every now and then. Sure I could be locked in to a car payment on a newer car that can already do all of the above, but my opinion is that you can't beat knowing that you're the reason that car can do it. And you damn sure can't beat the way an old g body looks.

Btw, you got a build thread I can check out?

Thanks Clutch. Just gotta get a drivers side fender and tie some things up and I'll have her looking decent. Didn't realize how hard it would be to find a fender for it. Cosmetics aren't too big of an importance for this build right now though. Really just focusing on upgrading that little 305 to something that'll put a grin on my face.
305 or 307? I like olds motors

305 SBC with a 600cfm Edlebrock carb, Edlebrock intake, and some stock exhaust manifolds with unknown mufflers and chrome tips. The Flowmaster sticker was on the car when I got it. Haven't cared enough to take a razor blade to it yet.
