Hey everyone I need some help. I just got my SMI 800CFM non CC Carb and the throttle lever stud is mounted facing in where my old one faced out and was higher up. Additionally the stud is shorter on the new carb than the old one. The throttle linkage doesn't line up properly it bends inward to reach the stud that is to short to attach any ways.
All that said, I do not know what I need. Do I need a new cable and mounting bracket to line them up (how do I know which one?). Does the bend in the throttle cable matter and if it doesn't do I just need a small grommet or a new stud ( the stud is pressed in there so how do I change the stud?). Thanks for the help!

Make sure the carb is the correct replacement first. Call the dealer where you bought it to see if they have had same issues. If that ok then you may have to modify. Got to be careful of throttle binding

I agree with airboat, sounds like they sent the wrong carb or you possibly ordered the wrong one.

here is a picture of the same carb number you have which has the same throttle lever my 17058253 has. I use a 1/4" bolt and two nuts to lock it in place on the back sided of the bracket. I use a modified holley bracket which is installed with the stud for the carb for the throttle cable.

Thanks so much for all the help and replies guys! I modified the grommets and made it work, has a slight bend in it but doesn't seem to bind when i apply gas pedal. Thanks!

I don't think I have ever seen a rubber grommet on a throttle cable at the carburetor
