Hello all. I was refered to the site by Earl. Dont think he is a member yet but he is over at ls1tech (Camaro forum).

Well I have a 1979 Buick Regal that was my moms dads (Pappy). It was red with white interior. now looks orange with brown interior. lol. Its been sitting since 99 i think. The body was perfect Until my uncle moved it, bending the front driver fender.

The car has few small problems but I plan to fix. I have always enjoyed cars. Custom, stock, lowriders, hot rods, sport cars everthing. If it took time and thoughts to build It interest me more.

My dream car is a 63 impala but I have to put that off for this project. I would like to make it a lowrider (some of you may hate) and keep it as original as possible.

Hope to meet and talk with you all soon

Roy

Welcome

Thanks guys

Well Ill be getting the vehicle closer to home within the next few weeks. Ill be Pulling the engine and tear it down. Ill be taking the block to the machine shop for the usuall treatment. I want to keep the Hp low but I want the nastiest sounded cam I can possible get. I will have one made unless someone here has one or can help me find. Im thinkin im gonna need a custom grind tho. I will also be getting the stock trans rebuilt(So far thats the plan). So I will be looking for a Torque converter too. Im just gonna freshin up the rear. All same gear and non posi. If the stock gears are worn i have other gears I can throw it. 2 series carrier? if yes I have some 2.73 and can get just about any other ratio.

Like I said I wanna keep it as original as possible. It was my Pappy's car so This is why i want it to stay the way it is. I know I can swap the engine and trans but its not on my wish list.

If you guys can help me find out about CAMS, CONVERTERS, REARENDS, Please do and point me in the right direction. I assume the rear is a 2 series carier with some 2.42 gears or somthing.

Well thanks guys and hope you can help me out.

Roy

What kind of duration are you trying to get from the cam? Lunati has for 160$ a good selection, it's going to be well over anything you can (or would want to) run on a stock engine. They have hyd. cams also, that'll set you back 300$.

I havent really looked yet but I want it to sound nasty. If that means Im gonna nead to beaf things up, I will. I prefer not to if I can just get that nasty sound, ya know.

I need to talk to a few ppl and get ideas before I actually buy.

If I wanna go fast ill Drive the camaro. This is gonna be my nasty sounding cruiser.

Yes, you can def. get the sound with just a cam swap and some new mufflers. We can throw out different cam sizes for you, but the best would be to call Lunati, they'll help you on that decision.

You said you want a low rider...will you be baggin the car?

Cool and thank you man. i was just on their site and will have to give em a call.

i had a civic with air rods. They are in between bags and hydraulics. I have done alot with deisel engines and hydraulics. Also have been fastinating to see them work so Im gonna go with hydros.

I have tools and shop to everything(yea I know Im gonna have to wrap the frame). If you can weld there is a way. i can make custom everything except glass lol and machine parts such as cams. I can build go karts, control arms, Roll cages and just about anything out of sheet metal and tubes. Intake manifolds, valve covers not much I can get done
