You mean the thermostat housing? Yes all Olds engine have a U shaped tube going from the water pump to the thermostat housing. Olds has a drivers side starter and Chevy has a pass side starter. The intake on a SBC is about 10 inches vs a Olds is 13 about inches..... The Chevy has square valve covers with 4 bolts and the Olds has 5 bolts 3 on the bottom and 2 on top, they also have a curve on them from top to bottom(shorter on top longer on bottom)......

isnt the alternator position on oposit side olds to chevy

It depends. Older model Oldsmobile had different brackets for the passenger side that did not have a/c. I dont know if 307's used that.

ahhhhhhh ok not to familiar with olds i had 2 w/ the 231 and 260 i do remember the starter being opposite if it were me i would scrap the 307or if i needed it i would put as little $$ as possible till could afford a rocket

Most GM alternators are clockable by removing the 4 bolts and turning the housing--just don't pull the two halves apart. It's a b*tch retracting the brushes and putting them back together. BTW, my alternator is off an Olds 307. I clocked it and used it. The only issue is that the upper mount hole is not threaded like on a Chevy, so I had to use a bolt and nut to keep tension.
