No more paper factory manuals?

I hear all that but why can't they at least offer them in paper? I can't be the only dinosaur that actually prefers to read a paper book! Hell, my Dad's '95 Saturn manual was in three volumes each as thick as the Manhatten phone book and cost plenty. We still bought it and I still have it. When I bought my '05 Cobalt manual it was a genuine GM manual but sold from some outside company GM used, but I can't recall the name. Believe me, I have been searching high and low and what I gather is that they are just not on paper at all anymore.

Helm, inc usually was the vendor on manuals

Faxon has older reprints

Picked this set up from a retired GM mechanic.

Years ago I was doing a clutch change on my daughter's Saturn and for some reason after I thought I was finished the car shifter was jammed. I had an issue lining up the spline but didn't put much pressure on the transmission sliding it back in place. Tried to find a manual for the transmission but none were available so I went to the dealer to see if I could buy one from GM. None were available but the technicians had manuals so I offered to buy one or pay to have it photocopied but no luck with that. Got it fixed but a manual would have saved me a bunch of time

It was a manual transmission, supposed to have a manual! 😀

I like the paper myself. Easier to find things, since that's how I learned to think and do that. I guess that's literally old school.
