Was just under the car replacing the trans mount and decided to look to see how close my tires are to the frame rail, to see if a 275/60R15 would fit. I have 15x7 rally wheels with 235/60R15 with I assume a 3.75 B.S., there is maybe a half inch between the tire and frame rail and a quarter inch between the tire and fender lip. How is everyone fitting these without notching the frame rail? My car is extremely low because of worn out springs but even at normal ride height for a regal, there is now way they would fit without sticking out of the wheel well. Was looking at 15x8 rally's with a 4 inch B.S. but there is no way to fit a 15x8 on my car. Help

Are your rear wheels a 15x7 or 15x8 and your 50 series tire is shorter than mine. My car is tucking the top of the tire, gotta love worn out springs lol. I would love to tuck a 275/60R15 that would be awesome.

I can relate... I just put on some 275/60R15s, BFG Drag Radials, on the GP with some 15x8 rally wheels. The tires are definetly rubbing on the frame rails, and they are quite close to the fender lip. Weather is nice today, so I hope to take them off and experiment with spacers.

it all depends on the car, each a/g-body had more room than others.
i have 275/40-17's on the back of my 78 with a 17x9.5 rim and 5" backspacing and i have about 1/4" between the tire and the frame. A 275/40 is the same width as a 275/60 just not as tall.

back in the day i used to run a 295/50-15 on a 15x8.5 rim and still had 1/4" space from tire to frame
Some models had more room than others

I would second the above comment. In my 83 monte I have observed space enough to fit at least a 275mm section width with no rubbing given the appropriate wheel width/backspacing.

well, my brother is running M/T drag radials on his Regal and experiencing rubbing issues as well, as like with my BFG drag radials.
However, a few weeks I test fitted some BFG Radial T/As and they seem to fit without rubbing, but were still close to the outer fender skirt.

all tires test on 15x8 wheels with 4" backspacing.

... which leads me to believe that drag radials or other racing oriented tires might be slightly wider or have more sidewall buldge than all season tires?

when i ran the 275/50/15 on my 15X8 GP wheels i had to run a spacer so it did not hit the frame but it did not hit the quarter lip. i have a 8 1/2 rearend. i think the regal had the narrowest of quarter panels with no flare out at all.

I've run both 275/50 & 275/60s drag radials on 15x8s on both my GN & 442with no rub. Rolled the inner fenders but had good clearence on both frame & fender on both cars.

What back space were you running on those wheels? It seems that the GN"S seemed to have more room than a standard regal does. Can't figure that out same body not sure why there would be more room.
