Holly Avenger carbs set up for EGR? Tuning if EGR/Vacuum lines plugged?

Doing a cookie cutter/Plain Jane/ run of the mill 350SBC/ THM350 Trani/ Shorty Headers/ Performer Intake......

Too the mix a 670CFM Holly street avenger. >>> Just a basic build here!

My ONLY Question is are the Avenger carbs set and tuned for EGR? I want to dump my EGR from the 3.8NA, but will it compromise a tune from a so called "Bolt -n- Go" carb from Holly?

It's Sat night and I don't want to ask a knuckle-head at Summit/Jegs

Thanks <Mike>

the carb doesn't know if there's egr or not. leave it off , but cover it with a plate that seals both holes separately (so they don't connect, if they do, then you have permanent egr and it won't idle well) , but hopefully you are using a non-computer distributor as well. If it pings at part throttle, set the timing back 2 degrees at a time till it quits pinging. If now it's a slug at take off, then you might want to put the egr back on and set the timing back up. EGR reduces cylinder pressure at part throttle cruise rpm, some camshafts are designed to operate with them.... so it kinda depends on that. I have 'fixed' many an egr system with no problems (pinging) but there are a handful that need that egr to reduce detonation.

It's not the carb that needs to be 'set up' for EGR ( or no EGR ) but rather the timing, most notably the vacuum advance. Of course if you want to run an EGR valve, your carb needs an EGR port!

Reduced throttling losses. The addition of inert exhaust gas into the intake system means that for a given power output, the throttle plate must be opened further, resulting in increased inlet manifold pressure and reduced throttling losses.
