This is the second time my belt has jumped a rib on the crankshaft pulley...

First time I noticed, it was the last belt I had on it, the belt stripped from the same side...

I just replaced the 8" balancer with a 6.75" balancer, and a friend told me maybe because of the different height size balancers, would mean different depth sizes but after measuring the depth on both balancers, they are the same...

...so balancer is crossed out from the list of possible causes.

He said the another possibility he can think of is the crankshaft pulley being wrong depth size, causing the belt to jump a rib...are there different SBC crankshaft pulley sizes between cars and trucks ?

What do you guys think ?

I used the balancer install tool to press the crankshaft gear...

This is as far as I pressed it to the block...I posted in that thread and asked if this was pressed far enough...you can see some key way sticking out...

I greased it and the shaft before pressing it on... I tapped on it real good with a pin and 3 lb mini sledge hammer.

That post I did not see. I tend to stop reading threads when drama is introduced. We are here to help one another as best we can without seeing an issue with our own eyes.
Not the answer you are going to want to hear but looking at the bottom picture, there is your issue. That crank gear should have been bottomed. The amount the gear is forward on the crank snout is quite possibly the amount your balancer is now sticking out by now.

I honestly don't know...thats what I'm trying to figure out...the tool worked but no bolt.

Here is a picture of the backside of the balancer/front side of the timing cover... You can see some balancer shaft, is that normal ?

I was able to get a pic of mine for you, just did my timing cover last week. As you can see no space between cover & balancer. All my pulleys are in line, no belt issues. Your crank pully is out too far.
1. Balancer not seated all the way
2. Timing gear not on all the way preventing balancer seating all the way.

I watched the video but there was no defined action.

So you reinstalled the tool & by doing so were able to move the balancer in more (which allowed the lower pulley to be moved in alignment w/the others)?
Lol of course not, I used it as it should be...the same way I used it as I explained in the timing chain thread...

I have a 27 minute video to share if I want me to upload it and watch it...

If not, this is how the tool is used and how I used it...
