ok so here is the downlow. my son and i both decided we didnt want the vynal top on my car. 81 grand prix. i was so proud of myself cause i got all that chrome trim off around it without one simple bend so im gonna sell it.

problem one- how do you get the trim off from around the quarter windows?

TWO- did i open up a big can of worms i noticed that i need trim for my back window now. where do i get that?
Any help on this section of my project would be awesome everyone. this is a low budget little experience with grand prix project and im doing it all my self

for the 1/4 panel windows you need to remove the inside plastic trim and you'll see 10 mm speed nuts for the window molding. It's sealed with butyl so it's a little hard to push out and that stuff is messy. I'ts cheap to buy tho so don't bother trying to save the old stuff. You will need the non vinyl top seals for the windows before you reinstall it, the vinyl was used as the seal....for the rear any G body window trim works I think but you'll need to figure out how to secure it. I think a few guys on here have done it

That's not a can of worms, I dislike the vinyl tops and the job isn't that bad. The car looks alot better after it's done and the parts you need are available.

totally not a can of worms...

I pulled my vinyl top off my 79 monte. It goes from mid roof towards the front down the pillars.

guess what i found in the pillars? Thats right some nice big holes.

It will look good once your done. any help needed just do a search and if you cant find anything just pop a post up. A lot of good knowledgeable experienced people on here

The junkyard is your friend - for at least three reasons:
#1 the budget #2 because you can "experiment" on taking stuff apart and # 3 you get the parts you need!
