Hey everyone, I have a new 383 stroker in my 87 MC SS. The problem I am having is I have oil coming out of the vent filter on my valve cover and this causes smoke and the smell of burning oil, what can I do to eliminate this issue ?
Thanks to all that help

My guess would be something amiss in the PCV system. PCV valve stuck closed, cracked hose(s), PVC valve installed to the wrong port or not hooked up at all, or, problem(s) with engine vacuum.

Contact the builder/retailer of the engine and tell them about it. I assume you have a warranty. The will most likely tell you that it's not uncommon to have blow by in new engines and that the rings havn't seated yet. But I would still document the issue with the builder/retailer of the engine so they can't wiggle out of it later on if there is a problem

Wow! I completely over looked the "new 383" part of his post. My sometimers must be acting up again  !

Betting your rings aren't seated yet. Usually I add a breather in the oil fill tube, doubt your 383 has that option. Try a breather cap in the valve cover, should help till your rings seat.

It may be those aluminum cylinder heads...the Edelbroke ones.
