Hey guys not to sound redundant, because I already posted about this topic before, but I am in the process of ordering parts for the motor I am getting and when I came across the oil pan I had an issue. My problem with the oil pan I am looking to order is clearance issues in the bay, i.e. hitting the frame or w/e/

when i posted about this topic before I was given a link to an ebay store with an OE pan

http://compare.ebay.com/like/2804069925 ... =BestMatch

from what it says it should fit a 1986 regal with a 5.0 v8 which is what i have but that picture shows a larger bottom base on the pan. I am curious because my original oil pan has a smaller base, but it looks like there is room between the base and motor mount so the newer, larger base one, might fit.

any help would be great.

Thanks
-Joe

yup....but if I were you I'd buy a pan locally so you can see what your getting before you buy it and to make sure it has the baffle installed and that it fits correctly. I've seen some of the offshore pans and the metal is knda thin..

ive been trying to find one locally but my only luck would be from a salvage yard, i guess it wouldnt be too bad if i just cleaned it up a bit.

I was thinking new....oil pans aren't that expensive but they are not something you want to be changing once the engine is in the car

The pan you showed should work fine.

If you want a really good pan for a good price, check this out.

I bought one for another Olds engine I had and it was great quality. Nice heavy gauge steel and it had a baffle, which the one you are looking at may not come with. Don't worry about it not fitting your 307, it will. For the most part, all Olds oil pans are the same and will fit in a G body.

you are using this pan on a 307 olds? and what do you think the clearance issues will be with the motor going into the car and the pan clearing the cross member and whatnot.

just trying to nail this down right because i dont want to have to rip this out if its wrong, so any re-assurance would be great. so far though, this pan looks to be the best choice.

All RWD Olds engines from 66(I think that's the right year)-to the last year of the RWD 307 use the same size and shape oil pan. I think the only different one was the Toronado pan which was a quart larger, but still the same basic shape, just was a little deeper. Pretty much any oil pan from another Olds engine will work on a 307 in a G body. Right now I have a 70 Olds 350 in my Cutlass using the stock oil pan that came with the engine and it fits fine.

The good thing about Olds engines is that a lot of stuff interchanges. The 307 is externally the same as a 260, 330, 350, and 403. Any accessory brackets, oil pans, valve covers, intakes, exhaust manifolds/headers, can be interchanged between all small block Olds engines.

You will have no problems with that oil pan.
