The factory service manual actually shows undoing the engine mounts and lifting on the harmonic balancer with a floor Jack.
Maybe I am terribly wrong, but pushing an engine up on the harmonic balancer sounds to me like a perfect way to damage the crankshaft/balancer :unsure: The idea of lifting via the oil pan instead of the engine hoist sounds like a better option though, if you don't have a hoist...
