Oil psi sender HELP

I know this is for the oil pressure sender.but what does it do. does it control the oil psi gauge.or does the connector with one female input control the oil psi gauge...note i have already removed my ecm

You have it right, it sends the signal from the sender to the gauge on the dash. It also connects to the electric choke on the factory carb.

which one goes to the gauge? the tan one wire.or the other one that had about 4 wires going into it?

My sons 87 elco has 2 oil pressure connections. One near the dist for the hex head sending unit, for the idiot lite. The other hangs down by the oil filter for the PRESSURE sending unit. Both, have one wire. The boot shape ussually fits the correct sending unit. Good Luck. :mrgreen:
