Old Parts

I don’t think many people are restoring a Monte to factory original. So not sure the parts have any real value.
Parts that are no longer made such as some computer system and emission parts have some value, especially if there is another emissions crackdown. However, one must be careful about some original parts. For example, high mileage control arms have been know to break due to metal fatigue.

My problem is I make stuff out of the old parts, Like 36mm Swaybar mount shims out of '90 Miata rear brake rotors.

The Brake rotors are probably only $14 new, but its a trip to the store I don't have to make.

Damn Engineering brain just see's stuff inside other parts and my day job is actually developing repairs for broken turbine engine parts, so I have a tough time throwing stuff away.

if it's in remotely good shape I've dropped parts off @ a friends house, between him and his dad they've got 4 g-body's.In the past i've been able to give them away on CL but a lot of times it hits the scrap pile @work too, depends on what it is.

If my old, replaced parts are broken or proven to not function correctly, in the trash or to recycling they go. Otherwise, I store the good parts in my shed in preparation for the day that Maryland requires all that computer-controlled emissions garbage be put back in place. Or in the case of factory suspension parts and wheels, just in case I ever decide to restore to original, though I can't imagine doing that. But, maybe the next owner would want to do that.

Sooooo... anyone want some old parts? Hah!

At this point, I replaced them for a reason, whether it's upgrading or repair, so I can't imagine ever wanting to switch those parts back.
