Wow, that I did not expect. I really love 455s, like I said they are my first love.
FE3X CLONE, I could spend all day reading and looking at pics of your builds and never stop learning and getting ideas and motivation. You have done some terrific work, and as far as I can tell, are one of the best contributors to the site and to my project. Thanks for the info on the 455, I may just do that, I found a 67 Cutlass that the 330 would be a good fit for, but I like to stick to one project at a time. I have two right now, the 88 Cutlass and the Chevy C10. That is too much for me to handle as I am working 77-84 hrs. a week.
BTW, thanks to dogshit also, that was some great info as well.

I found some interesting info on the 330. One of the biggest reasons people seem to be straying away from this engine is piston availability. Well I stumbled across something really cool that may just solve this problem. Early Mopar 360 pistons will fit and are a 4.000" in. bore, the mopar compression height is 1.612" while original Olds is 1.615", wrist pins are 0.984" vs. 0.980" for the Olds. There are a slew of hypereutectic and forged offerings for this engine. With the 4.000" bore that is only .063" overbore, and still leaves a few more bores to be had, since the 360 pistons can be had in all standard overbores. Supposedly the 330s cylinder walls will hold up to a .125" overbore, I am not going to try that though.
But this sure beats the EGGE pistons that is the only person making the 3.937" pistons, and they are cast and have mixed reviews recently. It also beats a $800-$1200 set of custom pistons too.
Just in case anyone was interested.

Bob's car also passed SMOG testing with the 455. It actually had better numbers than the original 3.8 V6 that was in the car originally.

MY 403 with 350 heads and Comp cam passed just as well.. My smog numbers were almost non-existent.. i could basically breathe out of the tail pipe.. (ya know what i mean 🙂)

I agree with a few of the others.. im glad i went with a 455.. its actually not terrible on gas you just have to be easy on it

That is awesome, I bet that combo runs well too.
