Olds engines have slower drain back than some other engines. So what? Actually if you get in the weeds about it, the drainback on a SBO is faster than a BBO because of the deck height is lower so less distance to travel back to the pan. That should save 0.00000001 seconds of drainback time. Someone timed it one time. :)

Seriously, unless you're going all out, there's really no reason to run HV on a street-run Olds engine. You said you were building it for street cruising, so you should be living in the lower RPM range (well, in Turna World that means 30% of the time anyway). Especially with a 5 qt. pan, you don't NEED to be using any HV pump. Remember Olds built them stock and unless there were issues of not keeping oil levels up, you could street them all day long without oiling issue problems.

Yeah Olds has a much wider valley so drain back will take a little more time than a sbc. Those long, smallish runners also help produce great low end torque.

That is a pretty aggressive cam and low lift for a roller. Most end up in the mid .500's for lift, especially for that duration, interesting. I would think 350 hp will be easy with that cam's duration.

That is a very mild cam for 9.5 to 1. On 91 octane and 9.6 to 1, I had pinging issues with 53 less CI. It meant limited timing, cold plugs and complete recalibration of my Qjet. I did have shitty quench, stock pistons .025" in the hole with .041" Felpro head gaskets. I went with a single pattern 214/214 cam and .6 less compression with .028" head gaskets. Now 87 ran fine once I replaced the 30 degree vacuum advance canister with a Crane 20 degree. No pinging, just low speed bucking. That was with close to 50 degrees timing at idle.
