On the 'mildly' Cheap SS Monte Carlo chasing a 9.0___

Sounds like different rated oil is in my future. I really hate to put any semisynthetic or straight synthetic in it because the motor will start to feel loved. It seems to work best when it's treated like a door mat.

Walmart has pails of racing oil, they are black and have no logos. Lol

Cheap too!

I have some line pressure now. Between 210-220 once its all in which is over 35% throttle. Hopefully that should help. That's 50 lbs more than the stock valve body had.

The oil pressure has settled down with 20W50 shoe glue in there after getting it good and hot. 68-71 psi at 7000 rpm's and idling at 39-41 hot. I guess that will work OK.

I tried to see where the gate levels off the boost, but I was on the street tire, and that was an impossible test lol. It appears to be around 11-12ish. I was really hoping for 6-7, but....I can live with it ( I think). I temporarily mounted the dome sensor on the intake - that was a mistake - Mr. Low Dollar doesn't like engine vibration - it jumped to 50psi with the CO2 off (hmmm 🤔 )

All seems to be progress.

Is it worth going to a Honeywell transducer instead of the lowdoller one and see how it works?

I have my lowdoller 100psi transducer on my fuel pressure regulator which is hard mounted to my engine and it seems ok.

What’s missing?

Hitch. The 5 day shipping turned into 19-21 business days. That expires this week.

I was going to say paint. Hope it is fast, because it ain't pretty. Just giving you crap. You know I love it!
Paint is still in the plan in the next 3 weeks if the motor sticks together this week. If the motor goes south, then I have to play with that and the paint might not get done.
Regarding fast, it’s the fastest car I’ve ever been in (for whatever that means). I’ve found it shocking how much different 135 and 140-145 feel.

Ive gone faster in other cars, but never in 1/4 mile. I can’t explain how fabulous the G-body shuffle feels. Hopefully I can do it a bunch during drag week.

I know the shuffle is no good for going fast, but omg, what a feeling!!!!!

135 in a quarter mile is fast! I got nothing for you. I have been in cars like that, but it has been a while. I would like to take a ride in it. Is your son talking his car on HR Power Tour?

No, and it’s a long story with an ugly ending.

He is going with me this year as a rider.

Still have 4 strips to put over the original rivet holes, but other than that it’s finally complete.

I showed the pics to a friend and told him that I wanted to make it look homemade - he told me that I was successful 😂

$425, just have to get it registered in the next 2 1/2 weeks.

I believe I’ll be swapping motors soon. I believe the 5.3 might be hurt (too much smoke at 15+psi). I’m guessing I have a broken ring or ring land.

The trusty iron 4.8 is just waiting to be called into action.
