On the 'mildly' Cheap SS Monte Carlo chasing a 9.0___

I didn't know 4303 have issues, but you have done what, 3 drag and drive week long events now, so you are likely seeing a good real life torture test.

I assume your pumps are not in tank? Easy to diagnose, I get that. I just get worried if one fails during the pass its hard to know, unless you can enable some fuel pressure safety in the ecm.

I forget, what trans brake system do you have? It's something atypical if I recall.
Everything has issues at some point. It seems to me that I hear of many 4303 failures. But that might be due to so many people running them. As always, I’m looking at the cheap factor, I can run with 2 4303’s (one as a spare) or 6 AEM 380’s (3 spares). And if during the cruise my primary pump craps out, then I can flip a switch to turn on another pump or change an output in the tune.

Regarding fuel pressure safety, yes I have one setup and I tightened it up a bunch after last year’s shenanigans. I was hitting it through the first 2.5 days of racing due to the converter being too tight on the shifts. It took me until Thurs to have that issue bandaided in the tune.

I have a Jake’s D1 transbrake. And I’m yet to be able to get it to bump into the second light at full power. It activates via one of the stock shift solenoids that can’t be PWM’d. Omni vestigating a work around for that presently. Otherwise I have to get different one- full manual for about $500 or a D3 from Jake’s or CK for about $1000+. I’m looking into a dump valve, but I haven’t found anyone that uses one with a 4L80 or anyone that markets one for this trans.

I’ve thanked those have helped me several times. Mentioning because of the attached photo. I never thought the effect of limiting front end travel would be as beneficial as it’s been. The attached picture is between the 60-100’ foot mark and the right front tire is on the travel limiter. It’s allowing the rear end to be loaded consistently for a longer period.

Considering that my launches weren’t consistent and not loaded real heavy, I think this photo explains why I ran the best 60’ I’ve ever done.

The front end is up 3-4” here. In the past I would be 6-8” but the car would be moving up and down creating an inconsistent load on the rear tires. And obviously all vertical movement is wasted energy.

These little things, once everything else is sorted, will be faaaaaster.

This is $10 worth of parts and a 1/2 hour with the welder.

Mind sharing what you've got with travel limiters?

I think I have the same issue. Front end comes up fast and hard.

These aren’t pretty, but I put them in with the a-arms in the car. I should have tacked them in at ride height, then removed the arms and welded them ‘pretty’.

Wingnutks did his very well and I copied his setup. 1/2 x 4.5” full thread bolt through a nut welded in place of the factory bump stop.

I forgot to loosen them up on the 3rd day and I never hit them driving. After that I left them alone. When I jack up the car in the crossmember the front wheels only drop 2.5-3”.

Found a couple of more pics online, or I should say my son found them haha.

I’ve tossed around idea of buying a real fuel pump, I.e. Fuel Lab or Aeromotive brushless setup. But I just can’t bring myself to spend the money when I know it could spent better elsewhere. So I’m back into the original plan of keeping the 3 pump setup.

I’ve relocated the 3rd pump to be very low so that I can virtually empty the fuel tank if I make the lowest pump the primary pump. My previous mounting location was just plain stupid. It required me to have over half a tank of fuel to have the pump gravity fed. And I was thinking I should resize my hose, but I don’t believe I need to. So I’m sticking with a -10 to the pre-filter, then -10 to a ‘Y’ fitting that splits to 2 -10 (5/8”) lines. One line feeds the primary pump and the other -10 line will feed the secondary and tertiary pump via a ‘Y’ and two short -8 hoses.

Some pics of my mess

And how about a couple more of some Mickey Thompson remains

Man I love this car! You planning on sick summer?
No. I’d love to, but I only have so much vacation haha.

Summit Midwest Drags. And probably DW.
