I personally wouldn't bother with primer. Scuff them, spray the adhesion promoter, then spray color. Then clear. Read and follow the TDS for whatever products you use.
What brand is your paint? I'd find one by the same manufacturer. If you can't, U-Pol, SEM, Transtar are all usually safe bets. Check for compatibility on a piece of scrap before you spray your fillers.Recommendations on adhesion promoters?

Make sure to get the product infomation sheet (p-sheet) for each product which will give you instructions, pot life, recoat & dry times, compatible products (same brand). etc... Always save them. I have a PPG binder from over 20 years ago with what was current then & what newer updated ones I've picked up over the years. What brand is your paint? I'd find one by the same manufacturer. Add in the U-Pol clear in a spray bomb. It's a great choice for small & spot jobs. I use it on all the small stuff.I see the can says basecoat but does it say anything else? Basecoat implies it needs a clear. Obviously its a 1k paint but it would be good to know if it is an enamel, lacquer or urethane. Look at the other numbers on the label. I'm going to bet lacquer or urethane in which case you'll be fine. Enamels are...ehhh.
Definitely spend the $35 or so on the 2k Spraymax clear. It will make a huge difference in the final product over using any other spray can clear.
For adhesion promoter, U-Pol Grip #4 is my go-to. O'Reilly and Autozone are starting to carry some U-Pol stuff but I think it is more consumer grade and I'm not sure if it is any good.
That upol clear is laquer and tends to crack over time, unless they’ve changed it since 2020. I’ve stopped using it since then.Add in the U-Pol clear in a spray bomb. It's a great choice for small & spot jobs. I use it on all the small stuff.

I've been using it for about 20 years & haven't had any cracking issues. Been putting it over urethane & most of it been DBC.That upol clear is laquer and tends to crack over time, unless they’ve changed it since 2020. I’ve stopped using it since then.
