Count the splines on the input shaft and mike it or measure with a tape to give us an idea of its thickness

IF you had the "small" 605 power steering box on your 78 ( mine did ), then your 605 pitman arm will fit your manual steering box (1" spline diameter). IF you would have upgraded to the "large" 800 power steering box, you would need a different pitman arm (1.2" spline diameter).

If he has the 525 box he is going to need more then a pitman arm

Is the steering shaft 3/4" with 30 splines?

5679206 is a 60s A body box. Should be a 525 with 25:1 ratio.

Looking at a 72 A and my 79 G the pitman arm looks the same length and offset, don't know about the tapers on the drag (center) link.

The rag joint will also be a different size
